At Emergency Prep we offer First Aid and CPR programs developed by two of the most respected National emergency training and certifying organizations - the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI).  We specialize in providing emergency preparation training to groups and individuals.  Click on the links below or scroll down the page for more detailed information regarding the following First Aid courses:

Pediatric First Aid for Childcare Providers and Foster Parents 
The Standard First Aid (ECSI) and Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid (AHA) courses are designed for those involved in childcare having a duty to respond to first aid emergencies because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements (e.g. childcare workers, teachers, foster care workers, camp counselors, school bus drivers, youth organizations and coaches for children's sports organizations).  When combined with CPR, these courses comply with the requirements of the Department of Social Services, Division of Licensing Programs' requirements for First Aid and CPR training programs.  The course fee includes a CPR & First Aid guidebook, equipment, disposable training supplies, handouts, and applicable taxes. A comprehensive full-color book can be purchased for an extra $15.00.  The Bloodborne Pathogens module may be added for an additional cost.  Skills include:

First Aid for Workplace Responders
The Standard First Aid (ECSI) and Heartsaver First Aid (AHA) courses are designed for businesses and other industries who desire to provide certified training to their employees.  These courses are geared toward employees and/or designated first responders who have a duty to respond to an adult illness or injury because of job responsibilities or regulatory regulations. This course provides individuals in the workplace the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize emergencies and provide First Aid for adults until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over.  The course fee includes a CPR & First Aid guidebook, equipment, disposable training supplies, handouts, and applicable taxes. A comprehensive full-color book can be purchased for an extra $15.00. When combined with a CPR course, this complies with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.151 and 1926.50.  The Bloodborne Pathogens (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030) module may be added for an additional cost.  Topics include:

Virginia Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
The Virginia EMT-Basic Program is designed to provide training to prepare an individual to function independently in a medical emergency.  This course provides the basic knowledge and skills needed to provide basic life support (BLS) care and is required to progress to more advanced levels of pre-hospital patient care.  Course fees include a full color manual and a 4 year certification card.
 
The course requires a minimum of 111 hours of classroom and skills instruction and 10 hours of Clinical/Field rotations for a total of 121 hours of training.  Virginia Certification requires successful completion of a state-administered written and practical skills examination.  This course is designed to train individuals to serve as a vital link in the chain of the health care team.  This includes all skills necessary to provide emergency medical care as an attendant-in-charge with a basic life support ambulance service or other specialized rescue service. Wilderness First Aid
Written by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Wilderness Medical Society, the ECSI Wilderness First Aid course provides information on how to handle common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour or more away. Designed for those who work or travel in remote locations, trip leaders, camp counselors, and outdoor enthusiasts who want a basic level of first aid training for short trips with family, friends, and outdoor groups.  No previous first aid training is required.  The course meets the guidelines of the American Camping Association (ACA) and the curriculum of the Boy Scouts of American (BSA). Course fee includes a full-color textbook, all equipment and supplies, handouts, certification card and taxes.   Lunches are not included, you may bring your own, there is a microwave and refrigerator available for your use; or purchase lunch at one of the local eating establishments. BLAST! - Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training (ECSI) 
The BLAST (ECSI) course is designed for young adults ages 10-16 who are potential babysitters, their parents and for parents who are considering hiring a babysitter.  The BLAST! program is exciting and interactive, providing training in pediatric first aid, household safety and the fundamentals of childcare.  The BLAST! program can prepare students to interview for a babysitting job, select safe and suitable games and activities, prevent accidents, perform first aid, and begin babysitting safely and competently.  For more comprehensive training, this course may be combined with Child and Infant CPR.  Course fees include a full color manual and certification card.  Course content includes:
